Release Day: Cool Critters of the Ice Age & Giveaway

Good morning! I said on Friday that I had some exciting news to share with y’all, well, this is it:

Today is the release day of my new book, Buddy Davis’ Cool Critters of the Ice Age! Y’all, that is really thrilling! (Can you think of a better way to start off your week?)
This is such a cool book! With tons of pictures and drawings and fun illustrations, this book is quite different from the other ones I’ve written so it’s a new and exciting venture for me.

It’s so colorful and full of fun facts, interesting tid-bits and will delight kids of all ages. While writing this book I had so much fun learning about the different creatures that lived during the Ice Age.

From  an armadillo-like creature the size of a car, to Baluchitherium who was twenty-six feet tall, to Titanotylopus a camel who’s fossils were found in Nebraska, I was enthralled by all the interesting creatures this book features.

It would be wonderful if y’all wanted to buy your own copy of Cool Critters of the Ice Age and you can find it here (Master Books), here (Amazon) and here (Answers in Genesis). My adopted parents (who are the co-authors of the book) and I are also hosting a giveaway. I’d be delighted if y’all would join in with celebrating our new book by pass the word along and entering the giveaway!

A Silly Fascination

I have a silly fascination with hot air balloons.
The “I don’t really want to study them and I’m fine never being in one, but it’s so much fun to talk about them as if I’m an experienced hot air balloon pilot and live in one” kind of fascination.
Take for instance when I’m talking to my adopted dad on the phone. Pretty much if he asks what I’m doing or where I am, you can count on my answer being somewhere along the lines of “Oh, just floating around in my hot air balloon with Frank.”
Frank, of course, is the 94 year-old guy who’s teaching me how to fly a hot air balloon. Ahem and Frank is just as real as me living in a hot air balloon is.

In October I went and stayed with my sister for a week. The last day I was there, there was a hot air balloon festival thingy going on. We decided to get all the children up and go watch the fun.
It’s a loonnnngggg story, but we ended up in the field that all the balloons were flying over for a competition where they had to throw something onto a big target.

That meant all the balloons were flying right over us. It was totally amazing. This picture (below) doesn’t show very well how close we were to the balloons, but let’s just say they could call down and talk to us and we could see their features quite clearly.

Being so close to the hot air balloons was way cooler than I had imagined it would be and greatly increased my delight in the colorful objects.

Some day I might just feature one of these contraptions in one of my books…

Have you ever taken a ride in a hot air balloon? Would you like to?

Today I’m guest posting and hosting a giveaway over at Nayu’s Reading Corner! I’d be delighted if y’all would check it out. 🙂

2 – Action Kids Book Release

2 Days!!!
I dreamed last night that I actually put a whole piece of gum in my mouth all at once instead of tearing it in half like I normally do. Some people would consider me stingy. That is until they see the books I gobble up. At around one-something this morning I finished my fifth book of the month. There are two reasons for that and it’s kinda cool cause it’s only two days until my book is going to be released!:
1. I haven’t been feeling the best and so therefore I’ve been taking more time to rest because I had a big several days at work this week and next week is going to be even more busy, so I need to be rested up. I’m head chef. We’re having a retreat. That means I’ll be doing a lot of cooking.

2. Forget normal life and going to bed at a reasonable time. My mind is so full of craziness regarding a certain event that’s happening on November 10th cue the singing and fireworks that I’ve found the best way to remain rational is to get lost in exciting books. It works.
Other than reading I’ve also been:
* Staring happily at my book, carrying it around with me and shoving it in everyone’s face so they can smile at it too
* Nicely hugging my new business cards
* Planning a shopping trip for the remaining things I need to buy for my giveaways
* Trying to participate in normal life
* Finishing up my goals for the week
* Listening to gobs of the Bible dramatized (nothing calms me down so well)
* Being thoroughly thrilled that I’m an author

Since it’s only 2 days until the release of my new book, here are two things I would be if I could live two more lifetimes:
1. The owner of a little restaurant/bookstore/cute store
2. Professional traveler
Who knows though, maybe I’ll some day figure those ^ things into my current life, and if not, I can always write a book and experience it through that…
* * *
Now it’s YOUR turn. Just leave your list of 2 things you would like to be if you could live two extra lifetimes and you’ll be automatically entered into a giveaway for one of the first copies of my new book coming out on November 10th!

3 – Action Kids Book Release

3 Days!
Let’s just say this one more time:

Only three more days! Today is a happy day. A very happy day. I may or may not be running around the house in-between cooking and cleaning while showing my family the proof copy of my Action Kids book.
YES! Y’all heard that right. I received the proof copy of the book today. Not of the inside, of course, that was months ago, but the cover took us longer than we thought.
Holding the completed copy of the book in my hands makes me oh so very, very happy. I kinda feel like going up to my office and just sitting there while nicely holding the book and staring at it and petting it and putting it in various places around the room just to see how it looks. The book, THE BOOK is here. And everyone sang and rejoiced

Since it’s only 3 days until the release of my book, here are 3 of my favorite verses:
1.Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, -Eph. 3:20
2. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 1 Cor. 10:13
3. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. – John 14:27
* * *

Now it’s YOUR turn! If you feel so inclined, you can either write a post (and link it back to this one) where you tell us 3 of your favorite verses and leave a link in the comments section. Or, just leave your list in the comment section.
Everyone who participates during the next two weeks will be entered into a drawing for their chance to receive one of the very first signed copies of the Action Kids book!
