Rarely do I post a picture of myself. It’s even more unusual (read that as “it’s never before happened”)ย for me to put a bunch of pictures of myself in one post. But today is special. Why? Ok, deep, calm breath. Breath in, breath out. Here it goes (nice and calm, you know…)
I’M GETTING MY BRACES OFF!
Ok, now that wasn’t too excited, was it? ๐ I realized some time during this past 12 hour time period that I’ve had my braces for longer than I’ve had this blog. Wow. That’s crazy to think about! I’ve had them for just a little bit over two years now.ย
I’m pretty sure I’m going to miss going to our orthodontist, they’re a lot of fun there. I even got sentimental last night thinking about how this was the end of another chapter and I’m going to (don’t freak out here!) kinda miss the braces. In reality though, if I found out today that I had to leave them on longer, I would not be happy about it. Braces are not fun, although my orthodontist and his staff almost overrode the pain and annoyance. OH MY LANDS! I JUST REALIZED I CAN EAT CORN ON THE COB AGAIN. Ok, calm down, Aidyl. Calm down.ย
I’m leaving in just a few minutes and hope I survive all this metal being ripped off my teeth (shudder!). I do have three wisdom teeth poking through though, so at least I know I’m not going to have my month left alone for very long. Yay! I’m pretty happy when I have people stick scary, weird tools in my month and all that good stuff. (Total joke there. The thought of getting my wisdom teeth pulled out – which is what’s going to happen or they’re ruin all the work the braces did – is not a cool one. Ugg!)
Anyway, to celebrate the wonderfulness of being braces-free (which will hopefully be at around noon today), here are some pictures of me taken this last year with my braces on.ย
(Oh, yes, on another exciting note I got my AK book sent to my editor! Now’s the time to sit back and relax. Joking again, people. I’m leaving for Florida tomorrow. We’ll be visiting family and having business meetings for the next three weeks. ๐ย
I'm so excited for you, Aidyl! I definitely know the pain that braces can cause; I had braces for three years, but it was a four year process because I had them taken off for a year. Let me tell ya, all of it was worth it to have nice, straight teeth!

Not to speak for Aidyl, but no, she doesn't have any children. She isn't even married yet. The baby is one of her sister's children I believe.

Thanks, David, for answering. ๐ And Evan, David is right. Several of those children (including the baby girl in the 3rd and 9th pictures) are my sister's children. Some of the other kids are my cousins, and others are just friends. I like children. ๐
