Announcing: A Change in Blogging (plus a vlog)

A delightful and happy Friday morning to y’all!

Today, we’re going to be talking about some changes. I’m excited about them, but they will affect y’all a bit so I wanted to let you in on my thought process and explain it all to you. So let’s dive in.

Back in March when I was celebrating my sixth year blogging anniversary I thought a lot about how and why and all the behind the scenes of blogging. And I realized that somehow I’d become a blogger who writes instead of a writer who blogs. Meaning so much of my time that was set aside for writerly activities was taken up with blogging. Plus, I was constantly behind in answering comments. And, visiting other bloggers? Well, that had come to a nearly complete standstill.

After thinking and praying about it for a while I came up with a solution but then decided to do the A to Z Challenge, which meant I couldn’t really change things up until May. Seeing how far I got behind with the Challenge in April only reinforced in my mind how I needed to implement my change.

See, I’m going to only blog three days a week.

It feels really weird to say that after five years of blogging five days a week very consistently. Yet, I know it will be good for a number of reasons. Take yesterday for instance: I was supposed to get to work (which is 45 minutes away) at 8:30. I generally spend my mornings rushing around and trying to blog before hurrying out the door and then literally running from the car to get into work on time. Yesterday? I sauntered into work seven minutes early and completely amazed at how unrushed the morning had felt.

So, obviously, the added time in my schedule will be a plus. I plan on still using that time for writing-related activities – actual writing, connecting with other bloggers (oh, happy day!), maybe keeping up with other social media platforms better, etc….

I’ve also noticed that a lot of y’all don’t read my blog every day anyway, but when you come you catch up on various posts at once. And I agree, reading someone’s blog five days a week would be a little bit of overkill. I’ve just really enjoyed blogging five days a week before now. But now? Now y’all won’t have as much content to catch up on.

Also, if I’m only posting three days a week I can take more time to come up with quality content. I’ve been enjoying posting graphics to go along with my posts, but yo, folks. It takes time to create those. So, less posting means I can spend more time making my blog be the best it can be.

My plan currently (which I’ve actually been following this month already) is to blog Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I might not always follow that and I won’t freak out if I don’t, but at least now y’all know what you can expect from me.

Lord willing I’ll also be posting my vlog on my Friday post, and I’m trying to choose a day to post on Instagram once a week. (I’m excited about that, folks, and can’t wait to share more with you.)

I’d be delighted to hear your thoughts about the changes, as well as hear about anything you’d like to see more or less of on Noveltea. Thanks, friends, for sticking around and being a part of my life!

And now for my bookish vlog which is completely unrelated to this post and also features my sister’s puppy. πŸ˜‰

I have heard of The Hardy Boys books and I think we have a few, but I’m afraid I haven’t read any of them. ;/ I guess it’s never too late to start, right? πŸ™‚ And Nika is so sweet! I love puppies. ❀

Hardy Boy books were so much a part of my childhood that it’s hard to imagine life without them. 😜 You might be a little too old to enjoy them now, but I guess it would still be fun to try!
And Nica is rather adorable, but goodness does she like to chew! (By the way, I like it spelled with a β€œk” better than a β€œc” by the way, but I didn’t name her. πŸ˜†)

I love this, Lydia! You’ve definitely put thought into what would be best for you and your readers. I switched to this schedule myself after five months of blogging, and it’s been great. πŸ˜‰

Ah! Nice. I knew you had a schedule but I hadn’t really paid much attention to what it was. It’s aamazing to me how much more time I have now. (Although not literally, of course…) Some seasons of life just mean less blogging….

Sounds like a great idea! I try to post somewhere around three times a week (except I’m taking a ‘break’ right now to study for exams… But I still post anyways occasionally ’cause I’ve had important things to share recently XD) and it works really well for me. πŸ˜‰ I hope it works well for you! You’ll have to let us know how you’re feeling about it and how it’s working for you after a little while. πŸ˜‰

That’s cool – apparently a lot of people post three days a week. It does make sense.
And yes! I know what you mean about sometimes having exciting stuff that you just HAVE to share. πŸ˜‰
I’ll probalby post about how this schedule worked for me in my May review.
