Y’all! Today has finally arrived, and I’m quite happy to share the excitement with you. Today is the day I get to share with y’all the cover for Where Dandelions Grow. This cover has me quite thrilled because it combines SO MANY elements of the story, as well as being the type of cover that I think is most beautiful.
Here Whimsy and I are this morning – so excited about the Cover Reveal. Actually Whimsy is like “This is so high and scary and I’m going to hold on tight and please don’t drop me cause I’m freaking out.” But anyway….
Not only am I going to show the cover in just a moment, but I also have a giveaway and games. Because what’s a party without games? And everyone likes giveaways, right? Besides, I’ve been having so much fun with this project and I’m so thankful for y’all who have been joining in with me, so I wanted to get you in on the celebration.

Faded items on the cover – I see leaves and books.
Season – this makes me think of spring, because that is when dandelions are in full bloom here where I live. (But then, secondarily, of fall, because of the leaves)
Two things I think are in the book- dandelions, a girl with wishes, possibly that things would be different
Favorite cover element – I love the kind of vintage feel of it. the tans, the curlicues, the font…
Genre- historical & contemporary, the thing of the two girls makes it feel as though it is set in two different time periods.

It reminds me of Autumn or Spring. Or it could be Autumn, Winter AND Spring?

Faded things? Hmm. I see leaves, maybe a book?, maybe a larger version of the girl blowing dandelion puffs?, and a tree.
This book reminds me of Autumn. I’m getting all excited about Autumn coming because it has been so cool the last few days. Reminding me of pumpkin muffins and time for lighting candles at suppertime and making chicken noodle soup and going on a walk to kick crunchy fallen leaves. 😉
I think two things in the book are…oops well I already read it so I guess I’ll start with my disclaimer. 😀 A girl who’s looking back and remembering her childhood, and perhaps the delights of childhood vs the confusion adulthood usually brings. The cover has a reflective mood.
I think my favorite thing about the cover is the dandelion seeds floating across the page.
I’m not sure what genre I would classify the book in with just a glance. The first word that comes to my mind is “whimsical”.
Now I want to read the comments everyone else made! 😉

YAY! I’m glad the book makes you think of Autumn. 🙂 One thing I like about dandelions is how they last all year. Instead of just being a spring or summer flower, dandelions (at least where I live) sometimes even stay until mid-winter.
And goodness! You’re making me long for Autumn, too! It’s my favorite season by far, but I’m trying to just remember to enjoy summer for now. 😉 I used to not like August at all because I was so eager for Autumn, but I’m learning balance. Still, I can hardly wait to pull out my long sleeved shirts! 😉

How many faded items can you find on the front cover? Three–books, a tree, and leaves. (Now I’m feeling a little dense!)
What season does the cover make you think of? Fall/autumn. I know dandelions might not fit with that, but that’s my predominant feeling. If I was to choose a month, I’d say September. 🙂
Name two things you think are in the book, based off the front cover. Dreams and fear. Dreams, because of the “wishing on a dandelion” (is that even a thing?), and fear because of the older girl’s expression.
What is your favorite element of the cover? The girl blowing dandelions. Because 1) I LOVE DOING THAT! and 2) she looks peaceful, as if her life is still pretty much in order–worried, distressed people don’t take time to notice things like a dandelion that’s begging you to blow on it.
What genre does the cover make you think of? Fantasy. I’d say Contemporary Fiction, but it has enough “busyness” in its tone that makes me lean toward a more fantasy feeling.

And yep! You’re spot on with the correct time frame and season. Around Ohio we actually have dandelions all autumn long, although possibly not as many as during the summer.

The dandelions and the young lady’s hair; also it looks like there’s an image of a book (page edges), or possibly more than one book, faded into the middle for texture.
Autumn, due to the yellow tones and tan background.
Since I’ve read part of the book already, I can’t really answer this one – but coming to it cold, I’d be pretty sure the book contains at least one girl with an attitude. (And what YA novel doesn’t?)
I appreciate a cover that’s well put together technically, without sloppy image cutouts or overdone typography. This one’s quite clean, balanced, and legible.
Vintage/retro due to the typography and the fact that the girl pictured on the right reminds me of some deserving waif from a Lamplighter book. Of course the girl in jeans kinda blows that up, so I guess I don’t have a coherent answer….

Hmmm… I never thought of Destiny as a girl with an attitude – more like a girl who is confused and doesn’t want an attitude. But, I guess different people will see her different ways. 🙂
Nice! I’m glad that the book fits into your ideals for being clean and balanced. 🙂 And I’ve had a couple of people mention vintage now. I hadn’t thought of that before, but I really like that it gives off that feel.

To clarify, I don’t yet know whether Destiny has an attitude in the book. Just, that dark-haired gal reminds me of the archetypical citified brat in Hallmark movies who always gets sent to Grandma in the country, where she takes care of the horses until she knows better. 🙂

For the faded objects I see leaves, curlicues, and books
My first impression of it is spring, but when I look at it more it also reminds me of fall.
two things that are probably in it are dandelions (of course) and a girl who has had a confusing life.
I can’t pick a favorite element of the cover. I love everything about it.
I would say the genre is probably contemporary.
It looks super interesting. Congrats on releasing this book!

Okay, for question number one, I can see faded books, leaves, a tree (oh, by the way, is that tree pictured the ‘pouting tree’? 🙂 )
As for the season, I think I’d have to say…spring. There’s something so delightful and joyful about the dandelions.
As to the two things I would think would be in this book based on the cover. I think the cover, with the little girl and then the older girl, it looks kind of reminiscent. Like there’s a lot of remembering being done in this book. Perhaps the older girl is thinking about her life and what she truly believes. I don’t know…those were just the things I thought of. 🙂

The pretty flowers are just so lovely and stand out. And I would think by looking at this cover that this book would be more contemporary.

It’s crazy cause I wrote the book several years ago, so it’s been kinda fun revisiting the project, yet not being as involved with the book emotionally (because I wrote it so long ago) has been a fun experience. 🙂

Lydia! You have a bunny! Too cute! I had one one summer, but I had to give him away for the winter. Hopefully I’ll be able to get another one sometime. Cocoa was too cute!
Faded items: 3 or 4, A book’s edges. Leaves, and the girl making a wish, as well as the swirls at the top.
The season I imagine is definitely fall, and I love fall.
What two things? It reminds me of a girl with a past, or one who wonders about her past, as well as the dandelions representing hope, or a joy on the horizon.
I like how it flows from a blander faded brown at the top to a bright yellow and green flowers at the bottom. And there is a story in between. 🙂
I would say a combo of Historical Fiction with Contemporary YA.
