Book Birthday Celebration #4 // HAPPY BIRTHDAY // Contest

Happy Birthday!
Today is Cave Secrets of the Pterodactyl’s first birthday!

A text from my amazing sister at midnight.
I know, I know, I sound like a proud momma or something, don’t I?
But you just wait until you have your darling little book held in your hands and you’ll understand the feeling. Actually, I know books are quite different because Cave Secrets of the Pterodactyl suffers nothing when I forget about it for the day, it doesn’t mind being held by strangers and last I knew, no one had ever called it ‘adorable’ and, well, it’s never going to grow up…

The surreal feeling of having strangers buy my book at the Answers Mega Conference.

If you want to check out the pervious three posts in this book birthday blog party, you can find them here, here (don’t forget to play the game!) and here. And what else makes a party better than party favors? So, if you’re in the mood for a gift, head on over to His Princess and Book Nook for your chance at winning something hosted by NovelteaIf you want to find out more fun stuff about Cave Secrets of the Pterodactyl, you can check out the blog tour I did over the six-month anniversary of the book being published. You can find that here

A dream come true: My book being advertised by AiG,

I would have to say, the first year of being published has been amazing. It’s been busy, full, wonderful and crazy. I’ve traveled all over, partly for the book, partly for other reasons. I’ve blogged a lot. I’ve had lots of stuff going on personally and with my work. All in all, it’s been an exciting adventure. In some ways I can’t believe it’s only been a year, in other ways it seems way longer.

Being thrilled to see my book being sold in the Cumberland Caverns bookstore.

I didn’t realize how much my focus would change when my book got published. Instead of being able to concentrate only on writing and editing, I now had book signings, blog book tours, reviewers, marketing and all that crazy stuff to think about and work on. In some ways it was a lot more simple to just write, but I’m so, so happy to be at this place right now! It’s the craziest feeling to have a total stranger walk up to me at an AiG event and tell me they’ve read my book and their kids loved it, or that they want a picture with me. It’s always like the “Wait, are you talking to me?” feeling. I’ve even had kids bring their previously bought copy of the book to an event for me to sign. That’s just like Woooow… I mean, I’m just me. 😉 I can’t thank God enough for all He’s blessed me with.

Meeting some of my fans and being amazed that they were actually excited to meet *me*!

Alright. Now about that contest I mentioned I was going to have as part of the birthday celebration. This is going to be fun, folks. Have y’all guessed what it is? Well… It’s has something to do with words (because I’m a writer) and it has something to do with the imagination (because I’m a writer) and it has something to do with an idea (because I’m a writer). It’s a…
For the book’s six month anniversary, I went and gave out six copies to random strangers.
Writing Contest!
Yes, y’all read that right. Noveltea is hosting a writing contest.
And it’s going to be fun.
The rules are really simple:
1. The story should be between 300-500 words
2. No Horror or Magic
3. The stories are due on or before June 28th, 2014 (two weeks)
You can email me the story at aidylewoh(at)gmail(dot)com

After I get the stories, I’ll pick my favorite three and post them on my blog, then y’all will vote on the winner.
The prize will be this amazing, fun, and adventuresome DVD.
The contest is open to everyone, but I’ll only be sending the prize to a USA address

So, what do y’all think? Excited? I am! Pass along the word and let’s have fun! And thank you, thank you, thank you! To everyone who has helped me celebrate not only this birthday, but also my writing as a whole. Y’all are wonderful! 🙂
