(This post was written over several days and scheduled for when I’m in Europe. Enjoy, folks! Oh, and if you have questions, sorry, but it might be a while before I can get to them. :-/)
The quick answer is: I’m a Christian.
The longer answer is: No, I’m not Amish, Mennonite, Quaker, or any of those commonly asked questions, and, I never have been. 🙂 I’m guessing one reason this question is asked is because of how I dress, so I’ll address that. (Haha, get it?)
A lot of my immediate family does dress (mostly) the same as I do, but it’s not our background. We do it solely because of convictions, not because of our relatives or church. (In fact, we actually go to a Baptist church where no one else dresses like us.)
So, what do I wear? I generally wear long-ish dresses/jumpers/skirts, I try to make sure all my clothes are modest and I wear a covering on my head (which we call a headcovering – bet you would have never guessed!).
do I dress the way I do? First off, I cover my head because in 1 Corinthians 11
we’re told that women are supposed to have their heads covered when they pray. I’ve heard a lot of different views on that subject, but covering my head is my conviction from this passage, and therefore I do it. (And, this is just the basics, because I don’t want this post to be extremely long.) And I dress the way I do with the dresses and stuff simply because I try and be modest, feminine and bring glory to God. And, in case any of you were wondering, I don’t have a thing against wearing pants when needed, as long as they’re modest. Case in point, when I went caving I wore coveralls. =)
As far as other things I believe… I believe that the Bible is true and that Jesus is God’s Son who came to earth to die for our sins. I believe in a literal six-day creation, I believe that Christians are supposed to live every aspect of their lives in such a way to bring God glory and serve Him. And… there’s a lot more, but I think that’s enough for one post. Hopefully that answers some of your questions. 🙂 Just let me know if you have more, but remember, I’m out of the country so there might be a wait for your answers. 🙂
