J is for Joy

For the A to Z challenge this year, I’m posting about one of my favorite things: Living the life you were born to live. I’ve been so blessed with a family that constantly encourages me and builds me up and I want to pass that along to y’all! I’ll be traveling a lot during the month, so some of the posts are scheduled ahead of time and answering comments might take some time. I’ll try and keep up though. Thanks for stopping by!

J is for Joy…

I know a lot of people out there aren’t happy with areas in their life. I understand that; there are lots of areas in my life that I’m not 100 % happy with either. After all, we live in an imperfect world. Over all though, I would consider myself to be quite content.

When reading through the Bible, I’m reminded over and over again that God wants us to have joy. Nehemiah 8:10b is one example: “…for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” When we are fully trusting and resting in God, it’s a lot harder to get stressed out when trials come our way.

This isn’t something that’s always easy for me to remember, but when I do remember it and put it into practice, my life, and the lives of those around me, improve greatly. Besides, I kinda have to be joyful because my middle name is Joy (or at least my mom always told me that meant I had to be joyful…). 🙂

What about you? Would you consider yourself a joyful person?

JOLLY good post today, Aidyl. You're right; being joyful, even when you don't feel like it, is so important.

    P.S. I love your middle name! 🙂

Joy is another one of those words that has had its meaning diminished through time. The world seems to want to make joy synonymous with happiness. Happiness is fleeting, but true joy, the joy that is given by being a child of God, is there regardless of circumstances. Awesome post.
