Good Morning, Monday (…From Florida!)

Happy Last-Monday-In-January, Folks! Can you believe January is almost over already? I actually feel as if I’ve done enough this month to where if someone told me it was the end of February or March I would probably be like “That makes sense!” ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m hoping to write a month review at the end of each month and I’m excited about this one! Just knowing I’ll get to share with y’all what I’ve been doing gives me that little extra shove to keep on working.

We’ve arrived at our first destination in Florida, and it’s beautiful. It’s going to be great hanging out with family, eating fresh oranges, walking in the warm air and working. I’m hoping I’ll be able to catch up on some things I’ve gotten behind on with writing. I have several emails to write, plotting/brainstorming to work on and research to do. Life is fun. ๐Ÿ™‚ย
On Saturday night I was going through the manuscript I had sent my editor, looking for a scene that I wanted my illustrator to draw, when I suddenly saw some of the notes my beta reader had written for me. Iย freaked out. How in the world did they get in the final copy?ย I’m still not sure, except that I had a bad headache the night I sent my editor the file and must not have saved it after I made all the changes. So yes, my editor got a few of the comments left in his copy. Yikes, right?ย
Frantically (because it was close to midnight and I have that goal of not being on my computer on Sunday) I worked at getting the file corrected and sent to him with an email of explanation. (No, Editor, I really did notย think you needed that simple grammar tip…) Thankfully, my editor is amazing and told me not to worry. ๐Ÿ™‚ย
We had a short day of traveling yesterday, only about four hours. For about three of those hours, my sisters and I had an extremely fun time group texting with our bro who’s back home and some friends who live several states away. Then we decided to Facetime, and that was a great and kinda crazy and interesting experience. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m so thankful for our friends!

What are your plans for this week?ย

I'd say you're having a great time. I'm stuck at work so I'll have to live vicariously through you this week. If I could make a living traveling, I'd do it in a heart beat. I enjoyed that little snippet of the Action Kids book that you have in the picture. I know the idea was to show us where you'd left the proof read noted in the final draft, but it was an enjoyable short read. I know I'm well out of your target age range for that book, but I believe I'll get it under the guise of getting for my son. ๐Ÿ™‚ It sort of puts me in mind of one of my favorite book series from my childhood, the “Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators” series. I love the pictures of the coast. I looks like it was a great trip.

Ah, Aidyl, with – 25 wind chills right now, I envy you in Florida!! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Looks like you're having fun – texting always makes a drive go faster! Oops on the draft sent to your editor – understanding editors are wonderful. This week will be practice for the play I am in, much cooking and cleaning, writing, and babysitting. Not quite as full as yours, but it will do. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Have a great time!

One more comment, to make up for going a few days without commenting. Your oversight of deleting the proof reading notes before sending it to your editor reminded me of a CD a friend of mine recorded and put out as an Indie release. It was mostly bought by church friends and such. But, one of the songs that I wrote on the CD came out with the vocals sounding awful, but we didn't notice it until we'd gotten them duplicated. We finally, after going back to the computer we recorded on a looked at the file on the recording program, realized we'd never gone back and recorded a good vocal track but had instead finalized it with the scratch/guide vocal track that I'd recorded on it originally. One of those live and learn experiences.
