Announcing…. A Writing Contest!

source

Writing Contest. Just those two words are enough to excite me…. And kinda make me nervous. But here I am, announcing that I’m hosting a writing contest here on Noveltea. It’s in celebration of my one year blog-anniversary (which is March 6th, if you’re wondering).
I’m trying to keep the rules short and sweet:

1. The story should be between 500-1,500 words

2. No Horror or Magic

3. The stories are due on or before February 25th
(You can email me the story at aidylewoh(at)gmail(dot)com

Simple, right?

After I get the stories, I’ll pick my favorite three and put them up on my blog. Then y’all get to vote on them. If all goes as planned, the winner should be proclaimed and applauded on March 6th. There will be a prize for the first place winner. (Prize will be announced later.)

The contest is open to everyone, but I’ll only be sending the prize to a USA address…. Sorry non-stateside people. (If you don’t live in the USA and you win, you can choose a friend to receive the prize. All I need is the address.)

You’re not required to follow my blog, but that would be nice, of course. =DĀ

Have fun, people, I can’t wait to read your stories. If you feel so inclined, please, pass on the word, the more entries, the better.

Sorry you guys! I was so set on making the blog post simple and to the point that I didn't add some important info. I added my email address to the post, so you can email me the story. =)

Great Brittney Ann, I look forward to reading it! Do you think it's possible for you to email it to me? If not, that's fine. It would be easier for me to judge the stories though if I had them all in one place. Thanks a lot!

I was wondering, is more than one entry OK?

Is it OK if it is 50 or so words above the limit? I have a story I was thinking I might do, if I don't write another, but I've cut and cut and I just can't get it down the last fifty without taking away it's feel. šŸ™‚ If not – I can get to work on another!

Nevermind! Rules are rules – I shall not attempt to bend them! Besides, you actually helped me improve my story by cutting….who'd-a-known? šŸ™‚

    Hey Rebecca,

So sorry about that! I was going to reply, but then I was gone and for some reason my phone won't let me comment on blogs, and it was the only Internet I had. =/
Rules might be rules, but I was going to say it's fine if you streached them a little bit. =)
I got your story today and really look forward to reading it! Thanks.

Oh, no, that's all right! I understood. šŸ™‚ Just remembered this comment while cutting, and had second thoughts about my question for you – besides, my story needed to be cut at! Always learning. šŸ™‚

    Thank you!

Aack, I didn't finish my story yet (i have a habit of trashing stories halfway through)…I've been superb busy. March will be the same. Maybe sometime in the future I'll work really hard on a story and I'll enter it if you ever have another writing contest.

    Love,

Jenny! I was seriously thinking just a few hours ago that I should pop on over to your blog to remind you about the writing contest.
I totally understand being busy, but if you can, you could 'un-trash' one of your stories and finish it and send it to me. I'd enjoy reading it, even if you don't think it's good enough to win. Writing it can be fun anyway!
