  • Friday, Sept. 7: Your reveal. Tell us which story is true and which is false.

My Story:

My tenth birthday was probably one of my most memorable ones. The weather was just, just, beginning to turning chilly and with nine kids in the family, colds were having a heyday making their rounds. Somehow though, I dodged the germs and remained healthy and happy.
When Mom woke me up that morning, she handed me a cream-filled donut (a huge treat in our family), and asked me if I wanted to sit and have coffee with her. Feeling extremely grown up, I hurried to join her. Pretty much, my day could have ended right there and then and I would have been thrilled with it, but instead, she informed me that she and Daddy had a surprise for me:
“We’re going to go to the fair with you.”
Gulp. “Only me?” I couldn’t hardly imagine it, going to the fair alone with both of my parents?
“Yep, only you. You’re the birthday girl, after all!”
Squealing with delight, I hurried to inform my siblings of my present. I hoped they wouldn’t be jealous, and even though they were kind of disappointed, they all agreed that they were happy for me.
Filling up on cotton candy, French fries, hotdogs and my parents complete attention, I wondered if this is what it was like to be an only child? I loved it. It was kind of crazy for me to be the only kid around since I usually had a gaggle of siblings to follow and share my parent’s time with. After a couple of hours though, I begin missing them and wishing that they could have come with us.
I ended up spending the rest of the time looking for little gifts that I could take home for each one of them. My parents had given me some money to spend and by stretching it, I was able to get honey sticks, a balloon toy, and a stuffed animal. (A pink duck. Don’t ask.) I got some other stuff too, but I don’t remember exactly what.
So that was my tenth birthday. Oh, and I did end up getting that cold, but since it was after my birthday, I didn’t really care.

Is it alright if I vote even though I'm not participating in the bloghop? I saw it too late and wasn't able to post stuff in time…

I think this one is your real one and the first one you posted was the fiction. Although, I loved reading both of them!! 🙂

Okay, I'm going to guess that this one is FALSE and the first one, when you got sick, is true. Sorry! I feel kind of bad guessing the horrible memory instead of the good one (as if it makes a difference! – lol).

I agree with Melodie that all 9 kids were happy for you. But, I believe the part about you buying gifts for them. You seem like a generous soul. I am still going to say this is Fiction. First story is the Fact.
