How do y’all like my new blog look? I thought that since it’s September it was time for me to go from my summer look to my fall theme. Another thing, what do you think of the new name? I kinda like it {like a lot!}.

About the bloghop:
- Monday, Sept. 3: Post one summer story, true or false, it doesn’t matter but it should be under 500 words.
- Tuesday: Sept. 4: Hop to other participating blogs to check out your competition.
- Wedesday, Sept. 5: Post your other summer story. If Monday’s was your truth, have Wed. be your fiction story. Or vice versa. (Again, under 500 words.)
- Thursday, Sept. 6: Hop to other participating blogs. Decide which one is true and which is false and put your vote in the comments of each entry.
- Friday, Sept. 7: Your reveal. Tell us which story is true and which is false.

My Story:
In our family, tenth birthdays were a huge deal. Like stay-up-all-night-and-eat-all-the-ice-cream-and-watch-all-the-movies-you-want-with-Daddy-big. And considering that movies, ice cream and late nights were doled out at our house very sparingly by themselves, to get them all three together was an once in a lifetime chance. Pretty much it was what I looked forward to most from the time I was five or six.
Having a sister who was only 18 months older than me just made it all the more exciting to anticipate. When she only stayed up until 3:30 a.m., I was convinced I could do better. Actually, I talked about it for about three months after her birthday, and then started up again about six months before mine. I would beat her time! The thought of maybe staying up ‘till four or five was crazy, but hey, I couldn’t let my sister outdo me!
And then my birthday came. My glorious tenth birthday. And I was ecstatic. Dancing around the house. Running outside because I was so bursting I couldn’t sit still. Daddy asked what kind of ice cream I wanted, then headed to the store to pick up mint-chocolate chip, the best stuff in the world! Only by the time he came back… I wasn’t feeling well.
In a family with nine kids, it’s not uncommon to get sick, but having the stomach flu on my tenth birthday? Really? I did end up eating a little bowl of ice cream and watching one movie with the family… But the night that I had dreamed about for so long was left to a fitful memory of being sick. And so my sister did beat me after all. I fell asleep way before midnight.
About five years later though, when my next sister turned ten, my parents bent the rules a little and allowed all of us girls to stay up with her to help commemorate her accomplishment of making it into her double digits, and so in some ways I finally celebrated my tenth birthday as an almost fifteen-year-old.

So peoples, I’m guessing you’re supposed to vote fact or fiction in the comment section!

Hmm, great story but I can't decide if it's true or not. I'll reserve my judgement until Wed.

I'm going to guess true. This seems so real with the details of mint chocolate chip and all that. If it's not true, you sure fooled me with your writing skills!

No idea if this is true. I could be true…but I'm hoping you had an awesome 10th birthday with NO sickness. I'll vote for sure on Wed.

How disappointing? But, I am happy you finally got to celebrate it even though it was 5 years later. I will reserve judgement until I see what you got on Wednesday.

This rings true to me, but I may have to see what your other story is about. I was sick on my tenth birthday – I got chicken pox! Isn't that just the way it goes sometimes? Blaggh.

This has a ring of truth to it. How terrible for you on your birthday. I want to wait and vote after I have read both of your stories. I am a new follower. I am glad I found your blog during this bloghop. I like your fall theme and I love the title of your blog, Noveltea. It is unique.
